LAURIE DOUGHERTY spent most of her work life as an Executive Director in the non-profit world where she interpreted meetings with a pen and sketchbook. She has traveled the U.S. and abroad. She interpreted meetings with pen and ink “doodles.”
When she retired, her and Rich relocated to south Florida where she is more seriously developing her artist skills including from pen and ink, gouache, and traditional watercolor. Acrylics and oil are in her future.
In the Ft. Myers area, she can paint inside or outside. She loves to paint plein air with local painting groups and continually learns from the “masters.” Laurie is self-taught by means of online videos and distance learning. She enjoys helping others experience watercolor art and believes that anyone can be an artist if they try and practice.
You can find Laurie and Rich at most of the first Friday Art Walks in downtown Ft. Myers. The downtown area of Ft. Myers is a wonderful place to spend the evening, perhaps beginning with a casual meal at one of the wonderful restaurants that offer inside or outside dining.
